ADJUSTING THE CUT TIMING

Soil conditions, tire inflation, and tire wear can affect the cut timing. The cut timing is adjusted by turning the knob located on the far right of the control panel. To retard the timing (toward a late cut) turn the cut timing adjustment knob counter-clockwise. To advance the timing (toward an early cut) turn the knob clockwise. Once adjusted the timing will be correct for any speed.

ADJUSTING THE DEPTH OF CUT

Located on the optical sensor is an adjustment knob for adjusting the stroke length (depth of cut). Turning the adjustment knob clockwise results in a deeper cut, and counter-clockwise a shallower cut.

Next to the knob is a button for the self test routine. Pressing the button causes the machine to cycle through the blades firing them one at a time at ½ second intervals until all 14 cylinders have fired once.  This is useful for setting the depth of cut.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

The tractor’s hydraulic system is used to run a motor coupled to a pressure compensated pump.  The pressure compensated pump drives the conveyors, pickup rollers, alternator, header lift cylinder and the air compressor. Each circuit has its own flow control valve for setting the speed, and a ball valve to shut off the circuit.  The flow controls have been pre-set at the factory.
